The future of Mikhail Mudrikh (22-Chelsea) is looking increasingly bleak.
Mudrikh was the star of last season’s winter transfer window. Mudrikh’s stellar performances for Shakhtar earned him the attention of big clubs. His blistering pace, dribbling ability, and goal-scoring prowess earned him the nickname the Ukrainian Neymar. 스포츠토토
Initially, Arsenal was the team closest to him. However, Shakhtar’s high asking price caused Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to back out of the deal, and Chelsea stepped in. Chelsea spent a whopping £88.5 million on Mourinho in the winter and signed him to a super-long contract of eight and a half years.
But Mourinho hasn’t lived up to expectations. In 15 appearances, including seven starts in the second half of last season, he didn’t score a goal. His only offensive points were two assists. It was his first season with the club, and he joined in the middle of the season, so he needed time to adjust, but it was clear that he was underperforming.
This season, the situation is not much different. In fact, the competition has increased. Chelsea added previously confirmed signing Christopher Nkunku this summer and brought in newcomer Cole Palmer from Manchester City. Despite his recent injury setback, Mourinho has been limited to three substitute appearances, with established options like Kani Chukwuemeka and Raheem Sterling in good form.
Journalist Dean Jones analyzed Mourinho’s competition. “Chelsea are not competing in Europe this season. That means Mauricio Pochettino won’t be rotating much. Naturally, Mourinho will be given limited playing time.”
“Mourinho has only played 66 minutes in three substitute appearances this season, and he’s still looking for his first Premier League goal. If Mourinho wants to succeed at Chelsea, he must improve on his current form.”
