McAllister on Liverpool’s No. 10: “He could have been No. 8, but it’s a great number for Gerrard”

Alexis Sanchez, 24, has explained why he chose to wear the number 10 shirt.

“The club has completed the signing of McAllister. He has successfully completed a medical and agreed personal terms and becomes the first signing of the summer transfer window.”

According to European transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, McAllister has signed a five-year contract until June 2028, with a transfer fee of £35 million (approximately KRW 570 million), according to multiple outlets, including the UK’s The Times.

McAllister, an Argentine midfielder, joined Brighton in January 2019 for £7 million. A rotation player, he made the leap to the first team in the 2021-22 season. In 33 games in the English Premier League (EPL), he scored five goals and provided two assists.

He had a lot going for him. His soft ball touch, control, concise dribbling, and low center of gravity didn’t allow him to lose the ball easily, and his concise play and football intelligence allowed him to take on a commanding role at Brighton. McAllister was responsible for setting up the attack for Brighton and made an impact with a steady supply of crisp forward passes. At times, he played in a three-man midfield. As he moved up and down the pitch, he improved his game and naturally increased his value.

He continued to impress for Brighton this season, earning a call-up from Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni. He even made the final roster for the World Cup in Qatar. McAllister was a regular in the starting lineup, showing both pressing ability and sharpness to help them win the title.

McAllister, who will play for Liverpool from the 2023-24 season, chose the number 10 shirt and told the club’s official website, “I know how important the number 10 is in football. In fact, I could have worn number 8, but for this club, number 8 is a great number for Steven Gerrard,” he said. “I also wore the number 10 with Argentinos Juniors, Brighton and the Argentina U-23 team. It’s a number I really like, so I chose it.” 메이저사이트

The number eight shirt is currently vacant at Liverpool. Naby Keita, who previously wore the number, is leaving the club in June 2023. McAllister could have chosen the number 8, but he chose to wear the number 10 out of respect for its symbolism at Liverpool.

On joining Liverpool, McAllister said: “It’s a big club. Since arriving here, I’ve realized how big this club is. I’m really happy and I’m looking forward to playing for Liverpool.”

Finally, he added: “The goal is to win. It doesn’t matter which one. I will do my best to help the team,” he concluded.
