The Gambia Under-20 National Team defeated Honduras 2-1 in the first leg of their Group F match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023 at Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza, Argentina on Wednesday (June 23).
The win moves the Gambia level on three points (one goal difference) with South Korea, who defeated France. France and Honduras enter the tournament with one loss apiece. The tournament will also see the top four of the six teams that finish third in their group advance to the round of 16.
The Gambia jumped out to an early lead, as Adama Bojang opened the scoring with a powerful left-footed mid-range shot just 20 seconds into the match.
Honduras quickly equalized. In the fifth minute, Marco Aseituno rattled the net with a header off a cross from the right.
The Gambia would be disappointed. In the 25th minute, Bojang slipped behind the defense and shot past the outstretched goalkeeper. However, the Honduran defense was quick on the scene and cleared the ball out of the goal. 스포츠토토

Honduras looked set to equalize again in the 43rd minute when Daniel Carter found the back of the net with a header, but video assistant referee (VAR) ruled him offside and the game ended in a 2-1 Gambia victory.
The Gambia will now face France on June 26, while Honduras will face South Korea. South Korea and the Gambia will face off in the final group game on Sept. 29.
