Clippers join Irving acquisition battle

Los Angeles Clippers joined the fight to sign Kyrie Irving.

‘ESPN’ quoted a source on the 5th (Korean time) and said that the Clippers are interested in signing Irving.

Irving is said to have recently requested a trade from his team, the Brooklyn Nets. This season is the final season of a $413.569 million contract, and he eventually requested a trade after failing to reach a contract extension agreement with the Brooklyn club.

So far, clubs that have shown interest in signing him are known to include the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Phoenix Suns. The Clippers are also added here. 메이저놀이터
According to ESPN, Irving reportedly wanted a four-year, $198.5 million, maximum contract. If he is traded, he is eligible for a two-year, $78.6 million contract extension with his new team.

Meanwhile, Irving missed the home game against the Washington Wizards that day due to right calf pain. The team won 125-123. Brooklyn, which once trailed by 23 points in the first quarter, scored a come-from-behind victory by scoring 70 points in the second half alone. Cam Thomas, who started off the bench, scored 44 points, Edmund Sumner scored 29 points, and Nick Claxton recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Washington allowed another come-from-behind loss after failing to maintain a 20-point lead in the game against the Portland Trail Blazers the day before.

ESPN introduced that Washington was the first team in the past 25 seasons to fail to maintain a lead of more than 20 points on two consecutive days.
