Dongguk University explodes for 15 three-pointers to defeat Kyung Hee University.
Dongguk University defeated Kyung Hee University 82-69 in a KUSF College Basketball U-League 2023 home game on Thursday at Dongguk University’s Seoul campus gymnasium.
Dongguk improved to 5-8 on the season and moved into a tie for eighth place with Kyung Hee University and Myongji University, keeping their hopes alive for the eighth playoff spot. Park Seung-jae (22 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists) and Baek Seung-yeop (19 points, 5 rebounds) led the team’s offense, while Lee Dae-gyun (10 points, 5 rebounds) also made his presence felt.
Kyung Hee University was led by Kim Soo-oh (24 points, 5 rebounds) and Lim Sung-chae (21 points, 5 rebounds), but it wasn’t enough to turn the game around.
The first quarter was evenly matched. Dongguk University took the lead after Baek Seung-yeop and Lee Hak-seung hit back-to-back three-pointers, but quickly gave it back. They gave up a three-pointer to Lim Sung-chae, and also gave up baskets to Ahn Se-joon and Ji Seung-hyun. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 16-15 in favor of Dongguk University.
The second quarter was just as close. Dongguk University allowed Kim Soo-oh to score back-to-back points to set the tone, but Lim Jung-hyun came to the rescue. He led the offense with back-to-back three-pointers and was supported by Park Seung-jae. Yoo Jung-won added a basket and Dongguk ended the first half with a 33-32 lead.
In the second half, Dongguk increased its lead. Led by Baek Seung-yeop, who scored 10 points, Lee Dae-gyun was fouled and Park Seung-jae scored. Dongguk University allowed 스포츠토토 back-to-back three-pointers from Lim Sung-chae, but they didn’t falter. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 54-46, still in favor of Dongguk University.
The fourth quarter was no different. With three-pointers from Lim Jung-hyun, Baek Seung-yeop, and Park Seung-jae hitting the rim one after another, Dongguk University remained focused until the end, overcoming Kyung Hee University’s late charge to secure the victory.
